My worst fault is procrastination. I did eff-all yesterday. Okay, I got some of the cobwebs down out of the living room while we watched “Dexter.” But that was about it. Today, I have to scrub the bathroom, do laundry, clean the kitchen, and find time to cook. I made some pumpkin-cinnamon crowns for breakfast (the recipe is from a cookbook I got to review, and I haven’t decided if ‘m going post about it or not), in between cleaning the bathroom and washing all the towels and bathroom rugs. I’m also battling a sore throat, but I suspect that’s because it’s so frakking dry these days. But because I went to all the trouble of photographing the little buggers, here’s what the pumpkin-cinnamon crowns look like:
I don’t think Jay liked them nearly as much as the bambino and I did, because he had two, which the bambino did too, but that’s a lot for him. I ate three, and will most likely send the rest off to work with Jay tomorrow.
Once those were done, I got to work on the bathroom floor. I am somewhat ashamed to say that I let it go long enough, the only way the floor’s going to truly get clean is if I get down on my hands and knees and scrub it. I suspect my hairspray is to blame, and is somehow adhering to the dirt and grime that gets tracked in. Even PineSol can’t quite cut it. But I will say, while I’m going to have to mop again before Thursday, the floor looks MUCH better.
Yesterday, while I was frittering away the morning, I came across this recipe for a cheeseburger and fries casserole. Pretty much the same as the ever-popular Tater Tot Casserole/Hot Dish, although with fries instead of tots. I showed it to the bambino yesterday, and he claimed he’d eat it (minus the pickles in the original photo). I thought it sounded good–Junky/fast foodish without being horrible for you. I didn’t end up making it last night, but I did this evening (along with effing off all day long, I also did eff-all for dinner last night…Jay and the bambino ate some appetizer things Jay bought and I finished off a box of Cheez-Its). I changed a couple things, though. I’ve gotten away from using condensed soups if I can help it. I dunno, but something about them creeps me out. So to thicken up the meat, I used a flour paste, and rather than the cheddar cheese soup, I just used shredded cheddar.
It looked good, and tasted even better! The bambino actually cleaned his plate for the first time in ages, and Jay and I each had second helpings.
But then, I’m not one to say no much of anything topped with deliciously starchy potatoes.
And like the other night’s pasta, there are lots and lots of leftovers…Assuming Jay doesn’t get into them later this evening. I’d kill for a dessert of some sort, though.
