We all had a really rough night Friday. My sinuses are beginning to drain, which means I’m hacking up a lung every so often. It’s a lot worse at night, and I got about 5 hours of sleep that night. The bambino was up a few times during the night too, and in between that & my hacking, Jay didn’t get much in the way of sleep either. So we did nothing all day yesterday. The only reason I ended up getting out of my pajamas was to go and pick up some pizza. And as soon as I got home, I promptly put my jammies back on. The only “productive” thing I did yesterday was to read The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Which, after finishing, I found it amusing that I’d ordered pizza for dinner, but while it was a good book (I read rather quickly), a lot of what’s covered in the book is stuff I’ve thought about on my own. I would like to read In Defense of Food next, though.
Today’s been a little more productive. I got the kitchen cleaned up this morning, so I could make breakfast:
For whatever reason, I keep calling it Apple-Pecan Coffee Cake, but it’s really Apple & Sour Cream Coffee Cake. It’s pretty tasty if I do say so myself, and it’ll make a nice snack next week at work. Or a nice breakfast, before work.
And it made a huge mess in the process! Granted, some of it was my fault, especially since this was the first time I made it. Still, I used many more dishes and pans than I was expecting. But the dish was tasty, and Jay inhaled about half of it (he loves seafood of any sort, and humors me when I make “bland” dishes, because I don’t like fish that tastes like fish). There were just enough in the way of leftovers that he’ll have lunch for tomorrow. I have no idea what I’m going to pack yet, but I’ll figure something out!
And since I promised the bambino some popcorn while watching some Original Series Star Trek, I need to get working on that…And figure out my lunch for tomorrow!
