“Got lost in his own museum?”

Because of yesterday’s jaunt to Inwood, I opted to wait until this morning to go grocery shopping. Hy-Vee was also having a 10 for $10 sale on a few things, none of which I bought.

I missed my $40 budget by about $17. Which is not good, although it just means I cut back next week. I did splurge on a few things:

I swear this stuff is like crack & I’m addicted! I love it, and I can’t have enough of it in my fridge! I daresay my beloved Chobani has been replaced!

I also splurged on butter:

Okay, I admit that my rationale for buying the organic butter was completely stupid. I could’ve bought 2 lbs. of conventional butter for what I paid for that…But still, I was annoyed about paying $3.59 for Hy-Vee butter, so I decided that if I was going to pay an arm & a leg for butter, I might as well get organic. I also got some snacks:

I keep seeing these all over the blogosphere, and figured I’d finally give them a try. My sister Kendra’s fond of them, and I have to admit that I tried the Peanut Butter Cookie one, and I did not hate it. In fact, I liked it. So if they go on sale, I’ll most likely stock up. I also bought some bread (instead of baking my own):

I had a BOGO coupon, and I’m planning on doing enough cooking & baking tomorrow that I didn’t feel like baking bread too.

This afternoon we took the bambino to the Children’s Museum for the first time. It’s such a neat place and the bambino’s at the perfect age for it.

We’re trying to decide if we want to get a family membership, or just pay as we go. There were a couple rooms that the bambino LOVED–The water play room, the music room (he was dancing around to some marching band music at one point), and the outdoor area.

I personally thought the giant Lite-Brite (remember those?) was cool, as was the Picasso quote. I think the bambino’s absolute favorite part was finally getting to see the dinosaurs up close & personal:

The baby T-Rex is a little more animated & louder than Mama T-Rex, but they both are pretty cool. The bambino walked right up to Baby T-Rex & roared right back at him. It was cute.

There’s a play farm & grocery store area, and after the bambino ran through there, Jay & I decided that we were hungry. We hadn’t planned on eating at the museum cafe, but since it was there, we grabbed a bite to eat.Plus, the decorations are pretty neat:

Jay & the bambino got grilled cheese, which looked REALLY good:

I got a half-order of lasagna, which I inhaled:

Plus, they have tiramisu, which is my all-time favorite dessert in the entire world:

I could eat an entire pan of this stuff, I tell ya. While I was stuffed from the lasagna and the tiramisu, I did wish my piece had been a little larger! All in all it was a nice day and the bambino had a lot of fun.

Sharing is caring!

  1. I have to give you props for the “half” a lasagna. I just can’t eat “half” of anything. If I eat something, I want it all. And half tiramisu for me is just impossible, I want the whole pan too!

    • My rationale for the half a lasagna was to justify the tiramisu (although I really was hoping for a bigger piece!). That, and I didn’t want to feel like I needed elastic waist pants when I was done eating, since we still had a 6-block walk back home! And while I could make tiramisu at home, I’d be the only one to eat ALL of it…And that’s just not good.
