It’s nice enough out today that some of yesterday’s snow is melting. I wish it would last, although I think it’s supposed to be sunny & warmer tomorrow, too. That will be a very nice start to the week.
I set my bread machine up last night, in order to make my cracked wheat bread. I pretty much use the dough function exclusively anymore, and then finish the bread off in the oven. For one, I get 2 loaves instead of just one that way. For another, it’s an excuse to bug my mom for another loaf pan for Christmas. I hopped on the elliptical for 20 minutes (I’m slowly working my way back up to working out for 30 minutes/day or longer), and as I was finishing my stretching afterward, the dough was done.
The bread itself was cooling on the counter before “Meet the Press” even started! And once it was over, I got to work on breakfast–The usual eggs, hash browns, & pork sausage made their appearance. And I did recreate my version of Hardee’s Caramel Crumb Biscuits.
After we left there, we popped over to the grocery store (again) because I’m copping out on the cinnamon rolls tomorrow after all:
Part of it is due to the fact that I’ve been up since 5 this morning, been fighting a tension headache for most of the morning, and I’ve already done a butt-load of baking in the past 24 hours. Not only did I do the bread & biscuits this morning, but last night, the bambino & I also made a chocolate cake. I’m a little homemade-baked-goods worn out. The other part of it is that in about 15 minutes, I’m going to get cracking on a big pot of Cincinnati chili for some 3-ways. So I copped out on the cinnamon rolls, although anything with cream cheese frosting has to be good!
I’m trying to keep an open mind, but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to compare to my beloved Fage:
Once we were done at Hy-Vee, we had to pop over to Wal-Mart (Jay wanted to look at Star Wars figures), where I got another treat (courtesy of Jay):
It’s been awhile since the bambino & I have had some of our favorite peanut butter. I figure it’ll be nice on my cracked wheat toast alongside my Fage for breakfast this week. Assuming I don’t just eat the jar spoonful by spoonful over the course of the next 24 hours! I’ve actually been trying to decide what nut butters I want to stock up on in the near future–Jay & I were discussing what to do with our income tax refund, which should be enough for us to do a little splurging, then finally get our garage door fixed. I told Jay all I really wanted was another shopping trip to Pomegranate Market. If I could stock up on some grass-fed beef, more glass-bottled dairy products, and nut butters, I’ll be happy. One of the Ag Loan officers at the bank works with a lot of the dairies around here…I should ask him if there’s one closer than Nebraska that does their own bottling & such, or if they all just sell to Land O’Lakes.
And on that note, I’m off to get ready for my 3-Way.
