Weekend Recap

I’ve been busy the past couple days. Saturday, I did the grocery shopping, and finished most of the laundry. I also did some cooking:

Yes, believe it or not, those are green beans on my plate. And I ate them. All of them.

I ate that entire filet too–When I next go back to the grocery store, I’m buying more of it. I made some chocolate chip cookies, just because I had a craving for a chip-wich, even though I haven’t made any yet!

I also finally got around to making my Cotton Candy juice on Sunday morning.

And I got to use the guava Melissa got me last week:

I had to look them up online to see whether or not I had to peel them–Turns out these are a variety known as pineapple guava.

(sorry about the flash)

The juice was good–It didn’t make much more than a glass, so after I tasted it, I let Jay have the rest. After I got the final load of laundry finished, we headed down to Sioux Falls for the day. Jay had promised me dinner out for Mother’s Day, and I needed to find something to wear to the bank’s banquet on Friday. I also wanted to look for some new pants for work. Strangely enough, I found a dress more easily than I found pants:

Anyone who knows me in real life knows I am not really a girly-girl. I have my girly likes (shoes, purses, nail polish, make-up), but I loathe shopping for clothes. I’m basically a jeans & t-shirt kind of gal, although when I want to, I can look feminine. And since my friend Erin already demanded, yes, I will post pictures of me in said dress.

After I finished my shopping, we headed out for dinner–We went to Texas Roadhouse. I thought about taking pictures, but decided instead, I’d just enjoy my Mother’s Day dinner with my two favorite guys. And it was delicious. My prime rib was like butter. Afterward, we stopped by Target, then headed home.

I made some hot fudge and picked up some raw Spanish peanuts, because I had this idea that I wanted a homemade Peanut Buster Parfait.

They looked good enough and the hot fudge was decent, but the raw peanuts were a miss. I have no idea what I’m going to do with them, but they aren’t going on any more sundaes.

Tonight, since Jay has to go back to covering school board meetings once a month, it’s just the bambino and I for dinner. And tonight’s dinner was breakfast. Pancakes.

And sausage:

I am the worst when it comes to burning pancakes–I should probably get out my griddle/grill pan to make them, but even then I burn them. Oh well. They’re easy, which is what I like. And I have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow (if I want)!

Sharing is caring!

  1. I actually love burnt pancakes. This is why being “raw” would be the end of me. I love burnt things too much. I kind of loathe shopping for clothes too… maybe if I did it with you the “fun” factor of it all would be kicked up a notch?

    • We could make fun of all the old-lady clothing. And all the stuck-up wenches who think they’re hot stuff. I would never last at eating raw either. Burnt cheese & I are very good friends.

  2. I hate shopping for clothes too. Well, I like LOOKING at cute clothes, but I come home crying because they don’t fit. *sigh*
Could you blend up your peanuts to make homemade peanut butter?

  3. Cute dress Chica….sorry that you got your distaste for clothes shopping from your mother….

  4. Stacie–I didn’t even mention having to go up a pants size, because I’ve never been this large before in my life. Ah well. One of these days I’ll get off my bum & start getting back into shape!

I thought about maybe oven-roasting the peanuts, to get rid of the “raw” taste. Maybe I will try making my own PB!

Mom–Thanks! It was the 2nd dress I tried on. When I showed Lex & Jay the 1st one, Lex gave me a look & said “Mama, I think you should try on a different dress.” He told me I looked pretty cool when I showed them this one! :)

  5. I hate clothes shopping – and I also hate wearing jeans and a tshirt all the time (which is what I do), so I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’m actually convinced that a weekend isn’t complete without a trip to target. My sister and I say “if you don’t need anything from target its because you haven’t been there yet.”

    • I used to go to Target with my sister when we were bored. Alas, I chose to move to the middle of nowhere, so I get to Target maybe once a month now. That kind of makes me sad.

  6. Ok I’m in the minority here but I love to shop. I also love that dress. You are not going to believe this but I have a dress I just bought almost exactly like that. It has a light peach color on the pattern as well but very similiary. To dress it down I wear leggings under it with flats – very comfy! You’ll look great in it!

    • Too funny about your duplicate dress! I would like clothes shopping more if I wasn’t a porked-up tub of guts right now. When I get back to the point where clothes look flattering on me and don’t just actually “fit,” I’ll go back to enjoying it. :)
