“I’m so damn tired…”

I actually went to bed at 9:30 last night, because I was so exhausted. I started off the day with grocery shopping, once I actually got me arse moving. I didn’t photograph the groceries, because quite frankly, I forgot. I did pick up fruit (grapes, bananas & more apples), a value pack of pork chops (10 for $10–I can get 2 meals out of it), 2 bottles of olive oil, some donuts, cheese, tortillas and enchilada sauce. I spent less than $40, and I get the feeling I had more in my cart than just that, but my brain’s still a little foggy and I don’t feel like going to look for my receipt!

After we got home and ate the donuts, I got to work on cleaning. I started with the dining room table, as I have a bad habit of piling up junk with the intention of looking through it later, and then never getting around to it. Eventually, though, I got it to this point:

You can see my new phone there on the placemat–I’d been noticing lately that my current phone had been delivering texts late (my dad would text me at 7 or 8 in the morning, and I wouldn’t get it until lunchtime), and Friday morning, Allison told me she tried calling me before work, but I never saw any missed call. And since my old phone was about 4 years old, I figured it was time to join the 21st century, and get myself a phone with a camera and browser access. Plus, since it has the capability to use polyphonic ringtones, I downloaded this as my default. If Jay calls me, the ringtone is the bambino singing “Twinkle Twinkle.”

Anyway…I did get the rest of the important cleaning done:

The bathroom isn’t so scungy anymore. I think I’m going to have to institute a rule that you have to remove your shoes before going in there. I don’t know which one of us has shoes that are embedding dirt into the floor, but it was bad enough (again) I had to get out the scrub brush and get down on my hands and knees because the mop alone wasn’t cutting it. I really think there was some film or something that the Mr. Clean with Febreeze was leaving behind. I got myself some old-school Pine Sol, and that did the trick.

I’ve already noticed since I cleaned the kitchen, I’ve got a few crumbs here and there, and should probably sweep it again before Wednesday night, when my mom gets here.

Jay and the bambino took care of the living room, thankfully. I haven’t seen this much of the carpet in a long time!

We did have to pop back out to the store at one point. I’d forgotten to add trash bags to the grocery list, and Jay, gods love him, offered to pick up dinner. He really wanted Italian something-or-other, so we got this:

Lasagne with garlic bread. I could’ve eaten about 2 more pieces of that bread myself! He also picked up this for me:

He’d suggested that we open one of the bottles of wine we got Saturday, but I was loopy enough from exhaustion that I would’ve fallen asleep with my face buried in my plate if we’d done that! I got sparkling water (or whatever that is) instead. It was really good. For dessert, I shared this with the bambino:

Also very good, but that’s a lot of cake, and we ended up giving a decent-sized chunk of it to Jay. After the bambino went to bed, I readied some baked oatmeal, which is in the oven now. I should have just enough time to shower and get dressed for work before it’s done!

Sharing is caring!

  1. Your house looks spic and span! I could use some sleep too. Traveling next weekend to Portland Ore. to see family and I always get so darn excited!

    • There’s still some dusting I need to do, and I’ve got to vacuum the whole place, but other than that, I’m done! Have fun on your trip–It’s nice getting to see family and spend time with them. :)

  2. Vacuuming is about the only cleaning I can get to these days (it calms/momentarily distracts my colicky baby). Otherwise my house is sort of a disaster, I’m ashamed by the state of my bathrooms….

    It gets easier right??

    • I hear ya on the bathrooms–At least you only have one male in your house. They get especially grungy with more than one!

And yes, it does get easier. It’s nice when they’re old enough to help, and they’re young enough to still want to help! That’s where my son is right now, and I’m taking full advantage of it for as long as I can! :)
