What a week. What an incredibly long, exhausting week. And it’s not over yet. I still have a day and a half to complete, since I’m going in Saturday morning again. But the OT will be nice. Assuming I last that long! I’m already so tired I can barely stand up! And horror of all horrors, yesterday I used the last of my coffee beans! We had planned on running errands again after work, so I popped into Choco Latte to pick up some beans.
We had stopped into Buttercrust to get milk, but they’re still out! The weather’s actually turned to winter, and the roads have been too bad for them to travel to Sioux Falls for their shipment. Hopefully they’ll have it tomorrow–I already feel like an ass going in there every night just for milk! Instead, I got a cookie:
I decided on Wednesday that we were breaking our freeze on eating out only once a month, and we went to Guadalajara. I got to work at 7:40 that morning, took a 35-minute lunch, and didn’t leave work until 5:40 that night. We also had to run errands, because we’re bad parents and with the snow we got that day, we knew the bambino’s daycare would be taking the kids outside to play. The bambino didn’t have snow boots that fit him. Nor had I washed his snow pants from the last time he wore them…Back in Spring of 2011. So we had to pick up snow boots (and do laundry), and leaving work that late, I was in no mood to cook.
Last night, though, I decided we needed a decent meal at home, so I thawed some steaks:
I actually wanted to do baked potatoes with the steak, but with running out of coffee and milk, there wasn’t really time for them to bake. I don’t seem to have the knack for doing baked potatoes in the microwave. Since we had to get milk from the grocery store, I also picked up a bag of Ore-Ida Steam & Mash potatoes. It’s the second time I’ve tried them, and it will be the last time. I know, for convenience food, I shouldn’t be complaining, but they’re just not that good. Not all the potatoes get cooked, and after I mashed them, I had to pop them back into the microwave because they were cold. Next time, I’ll just suck it up, and do pan-fried potatoes or something.
After dinner, I made our dessert for tonight:
The Brown Sugar Cream Pie. So easy to make–A pie crust, heavy cream, brown sugar, flour, and butter. And if the end result tastes anything like the batter, I’m going to be in pie heaven!
Butterscotchy, caramelly, creamy…All the things I love about a dessert. I’ll do as Marie did, and plop a bunch of whipped cream on it too. I’m going to have a very hard time not plowing through my dinner tonight!
And with that, I must go and get ready for work. If you find me face-down on my keyboard, please don’t wake me up. Have a great day everyone!
