Pillsbury Bake-Off: A Sponsored Post and Giveaway

Yes, I know sponsored posts are sometimes irritating. I try to avoid them unless they’re something I would use or do myself. And I do like to bake. I prefer to make a lot of stuff from scratch, but I’m not below making desserts or other snacks from some prepackaged stuff. One of my favorite desserts is Chocolate Eclair Cake, which is made with instant pudding, Cool-Whip, and a can of chocolate frosting! I also love looking through websites for new recipes.

Bake-Off.com now has 100 new recipe creations from Pillsbury Bake-Off finalists from across the country. Whether you are in the mood for Breakfast & Brunches, Entertaining Appetizers, Dinner Made EasyTM, or Sweet Treats, Bake-Off.com has tons of new ideas that are simple to make and sure to wow your loved ones.

And I know my mom and sister bemoan the fact that I shop at Wal-Mart,  but hey…I can’t make the jaunt to Sioux Falls every week. Gas prices are too high! Still, at Wal-Mart, you can find great savings on refrigerated Pillsbury products including: Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls, Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls, Pillsbury Pie Crust, and Pillsbury Cookies among other items. There are also savings available on everydaysaver.com/Walmart.

Thanks to MyBlogSpark, I was given a $25 Wal-Mart gift card to go and purchase items to make some of the Bake-Off.com recipes. I thought about trying the recipe from this year’s lone South Dakota finalist, but I’m not too keen on Orange Marmalade–I don’t like chunky jams/jellies. Instead, I went with a different breakfast item, something a little more savory.

Breakfast Crostatas
. I did change up the recipe slightly…Because I have this thing about runny eggs, I made some soft-scrambled eggs instead.

I was going to make some hash-browns on the side, because I’m a carb-junkie, but in the end I decided not to bother. The hardest part about the whole process was trying to fold and crimp the edges. Plus, the dough stuck to the parchment paper more than I was expecting.

But they were good! At least I thought so…The rest of my family wasn’t interested in trying them, the bums.

That’s okay, though. It means leftovers for tomorrow.

In the meantime, though, you can win a $25 gift card of your own from MyBlogSpark, and make your favorites from Pillsbury and Bake-Off.com. I hate contests and giveaways that make you jump through a million hoops, so I won’t ask you to follow me on Twitter or like my page on Facebook (although that would be nice, since I’m just 2 away from 50 followers for my blog’s page!)…No, instead, I’m asking you to go visit Bake-Off.com, and leave a comment telling me which recipe you’d like to make. I was very tempted to get ingredients for the Hazelnut-French Silk Turtle Pie, and honestly, I’m not sure why I didn’t! The giveaway will run until 6:00 PM CT, next Friday, March 23, 2012. I’ll use a random number generator to choose the winner.

Disclosure:  The gift card, information, and giveaway have been provided by Walmart and General Mills, through MyBlogSpark. My review of the recipe I chose to make is comprised of my own thoughts and opinions.
