“Got a boxful of goodies…”

I decided to participate in the Foodie Penpals program this month.

The Lean Green Bean

It was started by Lindsay at the Lean Green Bean (who happens to live in Columbus–which is where I went to school and lived for about 10 years before I moved to South Dakota). Here’s how it works:

  • On the 5th of the month, you find out who you’re paired up with–You send a package to one person, and you receive a package from a different person. On the 15th of the month you mail out a box with fun foodie items in it, with a $15 spending limit
  • On the last day of the month you post your reveal, showing what you got

For this month, I was to send a box to Susie at Susie QT pies Scraps of Life. Check out her blog to see what I sent her!

I received a box from Tasha who blogs at Lettuce Makes Me Fat. She sent a LOT:

Unfortunately, the day the box arrived, our heat index was over 100°F so this melted:

From what I can tell, I think it’s one of those chocolate-spoon type things. I’ll still try and salvage it, though! There was also this:

Which I thought was cool–I gave the seeds to Jay since he’s the gardener in the family. There was this:

Which came just in time, since I ran out of gum earlier this week! There was another interesting chocolate:

In the letter she enclosed, Tasha explained that this is an artisan chocolate, made in Houston, where she lives. A morning snack:

Which I took to work with me and really liked. I’d mentioned in my introductory email that I’m not a huge fan of dried chewy fruit, but I’ve never seen these KIND bars around here. If I ever do, I’m picking up some, because this was good. Lastly, there was this:

Yeah. Hazelnut, Peanut, and Almond butters, all chocolate. The bambino and I made short work of these!

Thanks again, Tasha, for all the awesome treats! If you want to join Foodie Penpals for July, visit Lindsay’s blog, and sign up here!
