Milk’s Favorite Wookie

Wookies have absolutely nothing to do with this post…I just think they’re awesome. I got to start my weekend a little early, having today off. It was great. I got the grocery shopping done, I got the laundry at least sorted (even if I didn’t bother doing any as of yet), spent about an hour alternately admiring and shaking my head at some Tumblr I came across dedicated to Tom Hiddleston, and I made a nice mess in my kitchen:

I made some cookies.

Little chocolate wafers that later became these:

Homemade Oreos! Oh, these are going to be dangerous to have in the house this weekend. I found the recipe at My Kitchen Addiction, through Pinterest. The dough was easy, the filling, a little more difficult. I think I should’ve gone with 3 cups of powdered sugar, as opposed to the 3 1/2 I used. No matter. Rather than piping it onto my cookies (which I originally tried to do), I ended up spreading it on there. I think it worked out fine.

They almost look like whoopie pies in that shot. They’re nothing short of delicious, and SO much better than store-bought Oreos.

Not that I have anything against store-bought Oreos…Heck, the last time I bought any, the bambino and I devoured the entire package in less than 24 hours! Yes, I let my child have cookies for breakfast. It doesn’t happen all the time. I have cookies for breakfast sometimes too.

Tomorrow, I suppose I’ll get started on the laundry, even though I hate my washer–The only setting that works is the delicate cycle, so it agitates, then soaks, then agitates, then soaks…And doesn’t seem to get anything really clean. My whites are super-dingy now. So that’s another thing we’re saving up for. In the meantime, I’ll spend a little money on breakfast out with friends, then come home to maybe make another mess in the kitchen!

Sharing is caring!
