“In the right measure…”

Yesterday was a weird day…I was in a horrid mood for some reason. I slept fine, I even got up and worked out, and I just slid into a funk that lasted pretty much all day. Poor Jay tried all even to cheer me up, and I didn’t snap out of it until about 45 minutes before the bambino went to bed, when he and I got into a tickle fight. Contrast that with this morning, when I’m now all giddy-stupid, after finding the above song/video, and skipped my workout!

Jay has to work tomorrow morning, so I’ll have the house to myself for a blissful 3 1/2 hours, as he’s taking the bambino with him. I think I might make some buns, maybe just watch some “Kids in the Hall.” Or just drink a bunch of coffee and zone out looking at vintage shoes I want, but can’t yet afford! I did pick up a few things at the store this evening:

I had to buy Land o’Lakes cream, instead of the delicious Burbach cream from Buttercrust…Unfortunately for me, they were out of cream! Random aside, I’m SO glad they have a website now, so people outside of Brookings can have a glimpse to how awesome this place is!

Jay brought in our first harvest this evening:

Some wheat.

, actually. It’s supposed to be a winter wheat, but Jay went ahead with planting it in the spring, so we have no way of knowing whether or not it’s any good. I suppose we’ll soon find out! These, unfortunately, I think are a lost cause:

Those would be oats. I’m pretty sure they’re dead. This, however, seems to be doing wonderfully:

That would be amaranth. I’ll have to figure out what to do with it, once we harvest that. Our corn isn’t looking so great this year either:

I do believe there are a LOT of weeds back there, which is part of the problem. And it’s been so hot and dry lately, I don’t think we’re going to get much, if anything at all. Which is a shame, since the bambino planted that again this year. But, I suppose, that’s the risk you take with gardening!

Sharing is caring!
