I have yet to meet a version of Buffalo Chicken I don’t like. I also have yet to meet a tater tot I don’t like. I’m only half joking when I say I’d eat an old shoe if it was slathered in buffalo sauce. Add some tots for a side, and I WOULD eat it, no questions asked. All kidding aside, I’ve got a thing for buffalo chicken and potatoes, so I made these Buffalo Chicken Ore-Ida Totchos.
They are mini-tots–I let the bambino pick out the variety. But they’re just as tasty.
And super-simple to make. All you need are the tots, some cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and either ranch or blue cheese dressing. I went with ranch, because I can’t stand blue cheese, though I believe that’s the more traditional or proper accompaniment for chicken tossed in buffalo wing sauce.
They’re SO good. And I know what my family is thinking…Ranch dressing? Have I lost my mind? Ha, no. I just found a dressing I liked that’s close to homemade. But feel free to leave it off if that’s not your thing.
Buffalo Chicken Ore-Ida Totchos

Ingredients
- 1/2 a 28-oz. package Ore-Ida Mini Tater Tots
- 2 C cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
- 1/3 C Buffalo wing sauce*
- 1 C shredded cheddar-jack cheese
- Ranch or Blue Cheese Dressing, optional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Bake the tater tots for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, reheat the chicken, and toss with the buffalo sauce.
Divide the tater tots equally among 4 plates. Top each with 1/4 C of the shredded cheese, 1/2 C of the chicken, and dressing, if using.
Serve immediately.
Notes
*If you don't have buffalo wing sauce, make your own by adding a Tbsp. of melted butter to the hot sauce, and whisking to combine.
