Berries with Caramelized Cream

Serves 6


  • 2 pints berries
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 C mascarpone
  • 3 Tbsp powdered sugar
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Seeds of 1 vanilla bean


Preheat broiler, with oven rack in middle or lower half of oven. Place the berries in a pie or casserole dish. Whisk together all the remaining ingredients until smooth & pour over the berries. Place dish under broiler and cook until the topping brown & carmelized, 5-10 minutes.
