I made these Easy Chocolate Croissants using the Hamilton Beach 4 Slice Easy Reach™ Toaster Oven with Roll-Top Door.
I’ve had bad luck with toaster ovens in the past…They take awhile to cook things, they don’t toast well enough, you get the idea. I had one up until about 2 years ago. We’d been given it as a wedding gift, and I opted to go back to a regular toaster, and give the oven to my brother-in-law. My mom has a similar style toaster oven, and I’d started thinking it might be a good idea to have one again. Out of the blue, Hamilton Beach asked if I’d be interested in trying out this model, and I said yes!
I like the roll-top feature. My old one had the standard door that opened on a hinge, and when you’ve got limited counter space, it’s a pain. The roll-top does away with that. I also like the toasting timer. I like my toast (and English muffins) well-done, and this cooks them perfectly.
I was also worried that the oven would take too long in cooking something, if I chose to bake with it. That was an issue with my previous one. I’d cook something for an hour, and it wouldn’t be anywhere near done. If I was making a plate of frozen French fries, it would take 45 minutes, and even then, there would be ones that were undercooked. And while I haven’t cooked fries in the this new one yet, I’m confident that it’ll cook them just fine. It cooked the Easy Chocolate Croissants perfectly. I actually pulled them out sooner than the time I’d set, because I didn’t want them to burn!
The croissants themselves are easy to make:
The dough I used was pre-cut into triangles, which were on the larger side, so I could only bake three croissants at a time. Which wasn’t a big deal.
- Croissant dough, refrigerated or homemade
- 1/4 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Cut the croissant dough into 6 triangles. Place approximately 1/2 Tbsp. of semi-sweet chips on the large end of the triangle. Roll towards the point, being careful not to lose any chips.
- Place on a baking sheet, and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
