I decided that I needed to bake again. I’d been thinking about more salted chocolate cookies of some sort, and a week or two ago, I picked up some JIF Mocha Cappuccino Hazelnut Spread. I decided I could use that, some semi-sweet chocolate chips and some Fleur de Sel to make a decadent cookie.
Salted Mocha Hazelnut Chocolate Chip Cookies. Crispy. Salty. Sweet.
So very delicious. And the recipe makes a LOT. I think I wound up with about 5 dozen, give or take.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper, and set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter, JIF, sugar, and brown sugar on medium until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Reduce speed to low and add the flour mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by tablespoons onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 9-10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
The bambino ate a few while they were cooling…As did Jay….And of course, I had to sample some myself, for quality control purposes, of course!

I have enough that I’m sending a bunch to work with Jay. The bambino and I will no doubt polish off the rest. Between these and the Almond Cupcakes, I think I’m dessert-ed-out right now. And cookies are such a dangerous thing to have around. We discussed it at a WW meeting one time, because people were giving me grief about all the cupcakes I make. I made the point that it’s much more work to eat a cupcake than it is to grab a handful of cookies and just pop those like chips! No matter.
I’ve been kind of slack about this (it’s been a long week), but just as a reminder, you have until 6:00 tomorrow night to enter my Progresso Soup Giveaway–I don’t know about the rest of the country, but here in the middle of nowhere, it’s a deep-freeze and a big hot bowl of soup sounds pretty good right about now!
