It’s been a long week, and I’ve been looking forward to getting on the road and heading out of town for a couple days. We got nasty storms that hit right at 3 o’clock…Which kind of sucked because I was planning on leaving at 4. I waited about 15 extra minutes because the roads were rather flooded with the amount of rain we got in that hour. Luckily it didn’t take too long for the roads to clear, and I could go pick up Jay & the bambino. I spent my lunch break running errands and had about 10 minutes to actually inhale my food, but last night, I went out and got some snacks for the road:
I usually like having coffee when I make long drives, but as late in the day as we left, I figured the water would be better. For one, we wouldn’t all be sucking down sodas and chocolate milk. For another, staying in hotels dries me out, and I don’t always trust the water in more rural areas. Nothing against the town of Huron…I had bad experiences with well water when I was a kid, so I’m a little hesitant to just drink tap water.
Once we checked into the hotel and got the bags in the room, we headed across the street for some dinner:
All decaf! Which is fine for tonight–I wanted a cup of coffee but don’t want to be tossing and turning all night any more than I already will be (I never sleep that well in hotels). But come tomorrow morning, I will be evil until I can get my behind downstairs to the continental breakfast area and get some REAL java.
And on that note, I’m off to bed. We’re trying to get the bambino to sleep, and I think the fact that I’m still up blogging is distracting him. We have more driving ahead of us tomorrow!
