“Yogurt the Wise! Yogurt the All-Powerful! Yogurt the Magnificent!”

We eat a LOT of yogurt in our house. Enough to the point that I notice a difference when I go without it for awhile. Jay does too. (We also really like Spaceballs, in case you couldn’t tell)

I was approached by the Foodie Blogroll about a promotion for Activia’s new Selects line of French and Greek yogurts. We’ve come to love Greek yogurt especially in our house, but I’ll try any brand at least once. Therefore:

Visit the Activia Selects Facebook page to get your FREE coupon now!

Also, as WordPress is being a butthead about “correcting” the HTML and Javascript and I spent 2 hours last night looking for a plugin to correct such nonsense, there’s also a widget in my sidebar that will take you to the Facebook page to download your coupon. The promotion ends August 15th, so hurry!

DISCLAIMER/LEGAL STUFF: This sponsorship is brought to you by Activia Selects who we have partnered with for this promotion.
FREE coupon offer good 8/3 /11 – 8/15/11, up to 1 million coupons, on any Activia Selects Single Serve, up to $3.00. One coupon per household. Offer valid in the U.S only. VOID IN LA, NJ, CA. Coupon valid until 8/15/11. Residents of LA, NJ, CA will be given a ‘$1 off 3 Activia Selects’ coupon.

And yes, I have also been monetarily compensated for my participation in this promotion.

I had a reader request a post on one of my ├╝ber-cheap grocery shopping trips, so I thought I would oblige. I worked on a list yesterday:

I changed my mind about the block of cheddar at the last minute, after I remembered that while I was originally going make some Cincinnati chili this weekend, I changed my mind and decided I’ll be making some fried rice instead. And I remembered we needed toothpaste! I was also originally planning on only spending $25 (just to see what $25 would get us), but I found $3 in my change jar, so I took that along with me. I figured if nothing else, I could get myself some coffee on the way out.

The dairy, including my own free Activia Select (I went & got the coupon myself). Naturally, I picked Greek. I was hoping for Vanilla, but Hy-Vee didn’t have it.

Today starts my week of no sugar, so it was a little sweeter than I would’ve cared for–A Plain flavor would’ve been great, but it also wasn’t super-tart like some Greek yogurts can be. I would buy it again. The bambino liked it. I let him have a bite & he kept coming back for more!

Pantry stuff. The sugar wasn’t on my list, but at $1.99, I went ahead and got a bag. I’m making the Jacques Torres Chocolate Chip cookies for a meeting at work next week, and since the Nestle chips were about a buck cheaper per bag than the Ghirardelli chips I bought last time, I got them (even if there is 7% less cacao in them).

The toothpaste. It was also on sale, even though I usually prefer Crest (it’s from my hometown). As you will see by my receipt, I also bought some salad, grapes and green beans, but I occasionally take crappy pictures without a tripod, so there’s no photo of my produce this time. How did I do?

Right on target for the $28 cash I took with me! My biggest advice to people when shopping is to take a list–I know that’s been said over & over. I’m also enough of a nerd about grocery shopping that I can pretty well estimate what a lot of stuff will cost ahead of time, so I can tweak my list as needed.
