Wednesday Rambles

Heart Coffee Cup

Work has been going along fine, though after the past couple days, I suspect our Fall Rush period is already starting. It’s been a little busier than normal.

Which is both good and bad. Good, because the days go by quickly. Bad, because it’s only going to get worse before it gets better again.

And this year, Fall Rush is being extended through the end of October. Fun. My sister and I are heading to Salt Lake City that first weekend of November, so there is a light at the end of that twelve-week period.

Which was not unlike last year, when at the end of that Fall Rush, I was going to see The Church in Minneapolis. Except that I didn’t get to see The Church.

I WILL be going to Salt Lake City, though. I’ve got the hotel room reserved already. I just need to start researching things to do as well as places to eat.

Heirloom Tomatoes

We’re also going to meet up in Chicago at the beginning of September, so that we can see Social Distortion again. That is another light in the midst of the Fall Rush storm.

I need to decide if I’m going to take the lazy way there, and fly, or if I want to brave Chicago traffic and drive there (which would be hella cheaper). I have a little bit of time to decide there, though.

But going into downtown Chicago on a Friday night? I don’t know about that. I think I’d rather pay someone to get me there and schlep me around than do it myself.

Oh, if anyone cares, I got the results of my gum biopsy. Just as the oral surgeon suspected, it was just inflamed tissue.

Which is good. No one likes a cancer scare.

Remington Quiet-Riter

I’m hoping to get word about the typewriters I have in the repair shop sometime soon. Did I mention I bought two more? That was back in January.

I couldn’t get a hold of my repair guy here in South Dakota, so I found someone in Ohio that could work on them for me.

One (in my amateur opinion) seemed like it just needed a cleaning. The other one (which is about twenty years older than the one that needs a cleaning) had a few keys that wouldn’t work. I’m hoping maybe some elbow grease will be enough to get it working again.

Part of me wants to go looking for even more typewriters, and buy them up and get them fixed. Part of me also thinks the fact that we have six now is more than enough.

But we shall see.
